Located just in front of Insular Life Spanish Heritage along San Juan Street in Dumaguete City, DaYo Seafood Restaurant is a standout destination for lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine with a special focus on fresh seafood. This vibrant eatery masterfully blends the rich culinary traditions of Guangzhou and Hong Kong with the freshest catches from the sea, creating dishes that are not just meals but immersive sensory experiences.
At DaYo, every plate tells a story. Their Fried Crab with Onion and Ginger is a revelation—each crab leg is fried to perfection, enveloped in a delicate balance of savory ginger and subtly sweet onions, delivering a satisfying crunch and burst of flavor with every bite. Equally compelling is their Spicy Boiled Beef in Chili Oil, which presents a fiery yet nuanced heat that awakens the palate without overpowering the beef's natural richness.
For those seeking something more substantial, the Steam Whole Fish is an absolute showstopper. This dish embodies authentic Chinese culinary artistry, where the freshness of the big fish is enhanced through gentle steaming, capturing the fish’s delicate texture and natural sweetness, leaving you craving for more. Meanwhile, the Fried Shrimp with Onion and Ginger ranks among the restaurant's bestsellers; its luscious, golden crust accompanied by aromatic ginger elevates the shrimp’s inherent sweetness.
One cannot overlook the unique Crab Steam with Sotanghon, a perfect harmony of succulent crab melded with silky glass noodles that absorb the flavors beautifully, making it a comforting yet elegant choice. Alongside these seafood highlights, DaYo offers generous portions of other Asian classics that cater to both meat lovers and vegetarians, with many dishes emphasizing fresh, light, and well-balanced flavors.
The dining atmosphere at DaYo Seafood Restaurant is warm and inviting, characterized by attentive staff who provide quick and friendly service, enhancing the overall experience. The ambiance strikes a lovely balance between casual and refined — ideal for family gatherings, group dining, or simply indulging in a flavorful solo meal. Notably, the option of unlimited rice and soup accompanying some meal combos adds exceptional value, making each visit feel both indulgent and satisfying.
Patrons frequently praise the restaurant for its authentic texture and taste, with some describing it as the best dim sum experience in Dumaguete, thanks to their authentic Hong Kong-sourced frozen dim sum, which is rare to find locally. Moreover, thoughtful touches like complimentary fresh fruits and generous portions make this establishment particularly memorable.
While some visitors note that the pricing is on the higher side, many agree that it's justified by the quality and taste of the dishes. The balanced use of oils ensures the food remains light and healthy, with many dishes featuring a delicate interplay of flavors rather than heavy seasoning. This attention to detail reflects the skill and passion of their chefs, creating a genuine Guangzhou-style dining experience right here in Negros Oriental.
Whether you’re craving robust spicy soups, crispy yet tender seafood, or a classic steamed fish perfected with authentic Chinese techniques, DaYo Seafood Restaurant promises a rich culinary journey that is both satisfying and deliciously memorable. Do not miss the chance to savor their notable specialties that showcase the best of Chinese seafood cuisine in Dumaguete City.

Excellent place, I am surprised that I only found that after living in Duma for some years. All the dishes were excellent, I particularly enjoyed the seaweed and egg soup. The vegetables are crispy, the use of oils was light. Pretty much every dish was healthy/light. Worth noting that the place has many options other than seafood, also vegetarian. Staff friendly too, and service fast. I'll be back.

Formerly "Nine Degrees restaurant", that offered unlimited chinese and korean buffet. Now concentrated on offering seafood in chinese style cooking. Love the spicy seafood soup. Must try the salt and pepper squid, and, fried crab with onion and ginger. Prices are a bit expensive but is worth the taste.

Recently, they offered Unli-Rice and Unli-Soup, so we tried. We ordered Pork Sisig and Jojo Chicken. Both were delicious. Reasonable pricing. Great service as well. Definitely worth visiting again.

An extraordinary Chinese, Guangzhou experience! A true Chef preparing meals, dishes that have a real taste of China/Hong Kong. No need to add any seasoning to enjoy on your palate the delicious flavour of the dishes you choose. The cooking is perfect just at the best level ! The presentation is something enhancing your appetite. Quantities are enough for a good appetite. The service is very attentive, polite, discret and sympathetic. I have to mention Abby, Liza, Mena. Prices are more than reasonable, value for money is very high. Seating is very comfortable, spacious. One might say the decor is rather simple but with no exagération, the music is Chinese but too loud. So thank you CHEF Jack Yan and your team. I will come back for sure

The Dim sum here is the only dim sum in the entire city so far that actually tastes like real Chinese dim sum and not the Filipino fusion dim sum. The secret behind their dim sum is that they are frozen and shipped from Hong Kong. I do not recommend their tofu dishes and the pork hot plate has too much peppers in it. The fried rice, kangkong, wonton and noodles are delicious

DaYo Seafood Restaurant is a fantastic Chinese restaurant in town that offers an extensive variety of popular Chinese dishes with bold and authentic flavors. The portions are generous, making it ideal for sharing or family-style dining, though the prices reflect the portion sizes. For solo diners, they also offer meal combos that include unlimited rice and soup, plus complimentary fruits. On our visit, we were served fresh watermelon, which was a nice touch. The complimentary soup was a delightful surprise—flavorful and served in a large bowl. We ordered the JoJo Chicken, served in a hot sizzling stone bowl. It was flavorful and served piping hot, though it had a bit more bones than I personally prefer. The eggplant dish was outstanding, with a rich, well-balanced sauce that paired perfectly with rice and complemented the other dishes. We also tried the Sotanghon Shrimp, which featured glass noodles in a hot stone clay pot. The dish was delicious and well-seasoned, with perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp that elevated the entire meal. Overall, DaYo Seafood Restaurant offers a great dining experience with authentic flavors, generous portions, and thoughtful touches like complimentary soup and fruit. Highly recommended for those seeking quality Chinese cuisine in town!
